Background &Aim: Adolescent girls need to be educated and accompanying parents in their Identification path. Therefore, the aim of this study was to comparing the effectiveness of parenting-based identity training with positive adolescent development training on self-esteem and self-efficacy of adolescent girls.
Methods: This research was a semi-experimental study with a pretest, post test and follow-up design with a control group. The statistical population was adolescent girls in the spring of 2024 in Isfahan, Iran. From them, 45 adolescent girls were selected by convenience sampling method and then randomly assigned in two experimental groups and a control group. Rosenberg’s self-esteem questionnaire (1965) and Morris & Usher’s self-efficacy scale (2011) was used to assess dependent variables in three stages. Two training groups were trained in 10 sessions of 60 minutes each, and the control group did not receive any training. Data were analyzed by repeated measure analysis of variances and post-hoc Bonferroni test by SPSS version 26.
Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between parenting-based Identification training and positive adolescent development training on self-esteem and self-efficacy with the control group (p<0.01). There was no significant difference in the effectiveness of two training on self -esteem (p>0.05), but in self-efficacy, parenting-based Identification training was more effective (p<0.01).
Conclusions: Considering the effectiveness of parenting-based Identification training on adolescent girl’s self-efficacy, and parenting-based Identification training and positive adolescent development training on increasing of adolescent girl’s self-esteem and self-efficacy, it is recommended to use these both treatments in psychological counseling centers.
