Background and Objective: The present study aimed to investigate and compare the effectiveness of two teaching methods, including traditional teaching and teaching with artificial intelligence support, on the understanding of mathematical concepts in third grade elementary school students. This study evaluates the effect of using artificial intelligence in the teaching process on improving students' academic performance compared to the traditional teaching method.
Methodology: This study is applied in terms of purpose and quasi-experimental in terms of methodology with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of this study includes third grade elementary school male students in Tehran, and the statistical sample includes 30 people who were divided into two experimental groups (15 people) and control (15 people) using multi-stage cluster sampling. The control group received mathematics education in the traditional way, while the experimental group received education using a method based on artificial intelligence support.
Findings: The results of the study showed that AI-supported teaching was significantly more effective in improving students' understanding of mathematical concepts than the traditional teaching method. This difference was confirmed with a confidence level of 95%.
Conclusion: AI-supported teaching can be used as an efficient method in improving the learning of mathematical concepts by elementary school students. This method has a greater impact on students' academic achievement than traditional teaching and is recommended to be used as one of the modern educational tools in schools.
