English

In this study, methodology and ethical approach are considered to play a key role in the general process of evaluation and specifically on child-related evaluation. For the purpose of gaining a general understanding of the evaluation process, the position of the ethical approach and the methodology in conducting the evaluation process was examined. Then, the mutual influence of ethics and methodology on evaluation studies was explored. Efforts were made to maintain coherence and systematicity in the discussion by presenting arguments and necessary references from primary sources in the field of child assessment, as well as by drawing connections and examples and incorporating theoretical content related to the influence of methodology and ethics on each other. From our perspective, the selection of ethical criteria, ethical decision-making in the evaluation process, and the establishment of guidelines as well as actions associated with ethical principles are rooted in moral philosophy. On the other hand, choosing an appropriate methodology requires a solid and specific theoretical framework that can encompass a methodological approach that is undoubtedly accompanied by ethical consequences in practice. Therefore, we cannot overlook the considerations of the ethical approach while asserting that the systematic of the study alone guarantees its ethical nature. Additionally, we cannot separate the ethical approach from the methodology and method, independent of actions and assessment tools.
