Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to measure the effect of training information seeking skills on reducing students' exam anxiety. Method: The present study was applied in terms of purpose and in terms of method, it was experimental research with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of this research included students of the first secondary school in Tehran. Among them, 275 students were selected and Sarason's anxiety questionnaire was given to them to complete. Then, among them, 40 students who had more anxiety for the exam were selected purposefully, based on the event-oriented interview, according to the level of information-seeking behavior, and were purposefully placed in two groups of 20 people. Then the experimental group received training in information skills in 5 one-hour sessions. Again, both groups completed the Sarason test anxiety questionnaire. Covariance statistical method was also used to analyze the data. Findings: The results of the research show that information seeking skills training has a significant effect on reducing students' exam anxiety. Conclusion: higher information-seeking behavior was more preparation for the exam, and this had led to the reduction of students' stress and anxiety. Therefore, in order to reduce students' anxiety, it is better to include educational courses on information literacy and information-seeking behaviors.
