Abstract
Background and Objective: The promotion and academic progress of students is always one of the most important educational topics and the main concerns of research psychologists, which include factors affecting academic achievement, academic enthusiasm, and academic burnout. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of self-directed learning training on academic achievement, academic enthusiasm, and academic burnout of female high school students.

Method: The research method was a semi-experimental pre-test-post-test type with a control group and a follow-up period. The statistical population included female high school students in Isfahan in 1403, of which 30 people were selected through purposive sampling and placed in two experimental and control groups, 15 people in each group. The experimental group underwent 16 90-minute sessions of self-directed learning training by Jafari, Nadi, and Manshei (1400). The research instruments were the Wells Academic Achievement Questionnaire (2010), the Fredericks et al. Academic Enthusiasm Scale (2004), and the Salamella-Arrow et al. Academic Burnout Questionnaire (2009).

Findings: The findings showed that self-directed learning training was effective on academic achievement, academic enthusiasm, and academic burnout in adolescent girls (p<0.01), and this effectiveness continued during the 2-month follow-up period.

Conclusion: According to the research findings, self-directed learning training in schools by counselors and teachers, as well as including the principles, processes, and methods of applying it in books on principles and methods of learning, is important and necessary.
