Abstract
The purpose of this research is to present a model of empowering the elderly, focusing on the case study of Tehran. Geriatricians play a key role in improving the quality of life of the elderly, so empowering them can have a significant effect on increasing the quality of care for the elderly. In order to achieve this goal, the present research has identified the dimensions and components of empowerment of the elderly, evaluated the current status of empowerment in Tehran, prioritized these dimensions and components, and finally designed and evaluated the empowerment model. Using the research synthesis method, this research systematically reviewed related research and used qualitative content analysis to identify the main dimensions and components of empowering the elderly. The results showed that practical skills, communication skills, psychological and emotional support, management and leadership, and the use of technology are the five key dimensions of empowering the elderly. To evaluate the current situation, data were collected and analyzed through interviews and questionnaires with geriatricians and related professionals. The findings showed that the empowerment of the elderly requires improvement in the fields of practical training and psychological support. Next, by using Chang's fuzzy Delphi techniques, the identified dimensions and components were prioritized. This analysis showed that practical skills and psychological and emotional support have the highest priority, while the use of technology was ranked lower due to the complexities and limitations of practical implementation. Finally, the empowerment model was designed by combining research findings and experts' feedback, and fitting it through the evaluation of experts' opinions and the analysis of the model's fit indicators. The evaluation results showed that the proposed model has the necessary validity and can be used as an effective guide for planning and implementing the empowerment of elderly people. By presenting a comprehensive model, this research explains the effective factors in empowering geriatricians and offers practical suggestions for improving the quality of education and developing the skills of geriatricians.
