Abstract
The purpose of this research was the effectiveness of meaning therapy on stress, self-compassion and loneliness in patients with generalized anxiety disorder. The design of the research is semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test with a control group. The total statistical population was the couples who referred to counseling and guidance centers in the 2nd district of Tehran in the second six months of 1400. The statistical sample included 30 people who referred to two counseling centers with 15 people divided into each of the experimental and control groups. Data collection tools included Cohen's stress questionnaires (1983), Neff's self-compassion (2003), Russell's sense of loneliness (1980) and meaning therapy protocol based on Anderson, Blair and Hotzel's treatment plan framework. Research data were analyzed using SPSS version 21 statistical package software in social sciences. In the descriptive part of the data, statistical indicators of mean and standard deviation were used in the pre-test and post-test stages. Also, in order to check the normality of the research variables, the Kalmogorov Smirnov test was used, and in order to check the homogeneity of the variances, the Levine test was used. In the inferential part of the data, univariate and multivariate covariance analysis were used to compare the average scores of the two experimental and control groups and the effect of the pre-test scores and other intervening variables on the post-test. The results showed that meaning therapy is effective on couples' stress, self-compassion and loneliness. Therefore,
