Abstract
Background and purpose: This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing and explaining the relationship between reading poetry and improving students' reading skills from the perspective of elementary school teachers in Quds.

Method: The descriptive research method is a correlational survey. The statistical population of the research is all primary school teachers of Shahr Quds, 1425 of whom were selected as a sample using Cochran's formula. A simple random method was used to select the samples. In this research, to collect the required data from a researcher-made questionnaire (1402) including four components of creativity in poetry reading, quality of poetry reading, type of poetry, and mental and psychological preparation of teachers and knowledge. Students were used with 33 items. The reliability of the mentioned questionnaire was estimated using Cronbach's alpha formula of 0.71. The analysis of the collected data was done using the Pearson correlation test in SPSS26 statistical software.

Findings: The results of the research showed that the creativity in poetry reading is 0.652, the quality of poetry reading is 0.641, the type of poetry is 0.359, and the mental and emotional preparation of teachers and students is 0.399 with the improvement of skills Reading in students has a positive and significant relationship. This means that by increasing the amount of each of the studied components; Students' reading skills also improve.

Conclusion: According to the findings of this research and similar researches conducted inside and outside the country, it should be said that poetry reading is one of the efficient tools to strengthen and improve the reading skills of students, which with its proper use in the country's education system. It can be helpful to pay attention to reading correctly and improving students' learning.
