Abstract
Abstract

Introduction: This research aims to compare the effectiveness of storytelling training based on positive self-talk and child-centered mindfulness on hope in children with cancer.

Research Method: This semi-experimental research had pre-test-post-test with two experimental groups and one control group. The statistical population of the present study includes all children aged 8 to 12 years old with all types of cancer who were treated in Bou Ali Sinai Hospital in Sari from 1400 to June 1401. The sample size includes 60 children with cancer who were selected by purposeful sampling according to the entry and exit criteria and then randomly assigned to three groups of 20 people, two experimental groups and one control group. The first experimental group underwent 10 sessions of storytelling based on positive self-talk and the second group of the second experiment underwent 10 sessions of child-centered mindfulness training. The instrument used is the Children's Hope Questionnaire (Snyder et al., 1996). Data analysis was done by ANOVA and Ben Feroni post hoc test in SPSS-25 software.

Results: The results showed that both training methods were associated with significant effectiveness in increasing the hope of cancer children. However, comparing these two treatment approaches, storytelling training based on positive self-talk is more transitory than child-centered mindfulness.

Discussion: Storytelling training based on positive self-talk and child-centered mindfulness is effective on the hope of children with cancer and can become the basis for increasing health promotion and hope in children with cancer.
