Abstract
The current research was conducted with the aim of examining the role of education and school in promoting mental health and informed decision-making of adolescents regarding cosmetic surgery in 2024. Qualitative research method, the statistical population of cosmetic surgery specialists, psychologists active in the field of health and cosmetic surgery consultants in Shiraz city in the spring of 2024 and a statistical sample of 15 specialists (theoretical satisfaction in the 15th interview) and 35 cases of adolescent clients of Parsamehr cosmetic surgery clinic in the last one year. Shiraz, which were selected in a purposeful way. The research tool was interview. Data analysis was done qualitatively based on thematic analysis method. According to the examination of the files of the clients to the cosmetic surgery clinic and the interviews with the specialists, the results indicated that we have seen an increase in the visits of the adolescent age group to these centers. The increase in visits of teenagers to beauty clinics is worrying. Several factors such as unrealistic images of beauty in the media, peer pressure and low self-esteem play a role in this. Therefore, preventive solutions should focus on educating about the risks of cosmetic surgery, boosting self-esteem, teaching visual literacy, and creating a safe space to talk about appearance concerns. Meanwhile, schools can play an important role by providing educational programs and creating a supportive atmosphere.
