Abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effect of math education with the help of gamification on improving the math teaching-learning process of the 8th grade students of the first secondary school in combined education. This research was a mixed method and descriptive method. The participants in this research were 56 eighth grade students of one of the first high schools in Alborz province in the academic year of 1401-1402. The students were divided into two groups in different classes and the researcher was the math teacher of both classes. The topic of integers and rational numbers, which is the first chapter of the 8th grade math book, was taught in one class, in the traditional way, and in another class, using gamification during 9 sessions (3 sessions of 45 minutes and 6 sessions of 80 minutes). reviewed The data of this research were collected through the researcher's classroom observation and the implementation of a joint and coordinated written test between the two classes where the content validity of the questions was confirmed by a number of experienced math teachers. The results obtained from the data analysis indicated that the use of gamification in teaching mathematics had a positive effect on the improvement of the eighth grade students' mathematical learning and increased the students' interest in the mathematics classroom. It also increased the activity of students in the classroom.
