Predicting the parent-child relationship on behavioral disorders with empathy mediated in adolescents 12 to 15 years old

Abstract
Introduction: Behavioral disorders are considered as a negative prognosis for the next years of adolescent life. The result of adolescent interaction with the environment.



Materials and Methods: The present study is a descriptive survey. The statistical population of adolescents 12 to 15 years old who were studying in girls 'and boys' schools in the first year of high school in Tehran, the sample size is 629 people, 320 girls and 309 boys. Available sampling forms were selected. Using the completion of parent-child relationship questionnaires, behavioral disorders and empathy and within 2 months, the data were reviewed and collected. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to investigate the relationships between subscales and mediating variables. Relationships were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Analyzes were performed using SPSS.26 and Amos.24 software.



Findings: The obtained data were analyzed. Based on the results, the significance level coefficient is 0.002 and the standardized coefficient is -0.03 and the non-standardized coefficient is -0.37. The explained variance of behavioral disorders based on the parent-child relationship, empathy is equal to R2 = 0.38. Predictive variables explain 38% of changes in behavioral disorders.



Conclusion: The indirect effect of parent-child relationship due to empathy on behavioral disorders is -0.16 and the total effect is -0.24. The indirect effect of parent-child relationship on behavioral disorders with mediating role of empathy is significant (P≥0.01, 03 / 0- = IE). This means that improving the parent-child relationship by increasing empathy can reduce behavioral disorders.
