Study and Comparison of Emotional Intelligence Components Based on Gender and Field of Study and its Relationship with Academic Performance of Students

Abstract
Introduction: One of the most important issues for those in charge of education; Especially the officials of the higher education system is the academic performance of the students. Successful people in education achieve a position and position that use their maximum internal and external force in line with educational goals and acquire the necessary conditions for a successful social life.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the components of emotional intelligence based on gender and field of study in students of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. Another purpose of this study is the effect of emotional intelligence components on academic performance of students of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.

Method: The research method was descriptive-correlation and the statistical population was all students of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in the academic year 1399-1400. The sample size is 180 students of the University of Medical Sciences who have been randomly selected by class. The SPSS20 software was used to analyze the data using statistically related techniques.

Results: The results showed that there is no significant difference between the mean components of emotional intelligence of medical students in terms of field of study and gender. The results also show that optimism has a major role in students' academic performance.

Conclusion: By providing trust, support and cooperation among students, it can increase empathy and social awareness among students, which is a component of emotional intelligence, which in turn will increase the quality of life.
